What is Restylane Lyft?
Restylane Lyft is an FDA-approved for cheek augmentation and the correction of age-related midface contour deficiencies, such as nasolabial folds. Restylane Lyft is essentially the same product as Restylane, but has larger gel particles and thicker consistency than Restylane for a deeper injection for more severe facial lines and wrinkles.
How does Restylane Lyft work?
Restylane Lyft is injected into the skin with an ultrafine needle to plump the skin and to smooth away wrinkles and folds. It attracts and binds to water molecules in the skin to help maintain volume.
What are the side effects and risks?
While there is little risk for allergic reaction as hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, it is still possible. Other side effects include but are not limited to: injection site reactions such as a lumpy or “thick” feeling under the skin (lumps are not visible and will dissolve over time), bruising, redness, itching, pain, tenderness, or slight swelling. Injections into the lip area could trigger a recurrence of facial cold sores (Herpes simplex infections) for patients with a history of prior cold sores. Antiviral meds can be prescribed before or the day of injections. As with all skin-injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.
